TrustSeniors on Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD)

Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) robs seniors of their independence; limits their ability to move about freely; and severely impacts their quality of life. While not curable, the progression of the disease can be significantly slowed, and new encouraging therapies offer promise for actually improving the sight of those afflicted with AMD.

The government needs to improve Medicare coverage for low-vision therapy; mandate a screening for AMD when a new Medicare beneficiary is enrolled; and make AMD screening a part of an annual physical for every beneficiary.
